Tourism and Leisure

The tourism is one of the most important economic activities in Asturias, one of those that generates bigger added value and one of those that creates employment every year.

Asturias has an excellent intrinsic quality to its territory. Its landscape, its culture, its gastronomy, combined with the application of Systems or Marks of Quality in the offered services, make the region a very good destination in connection with the evolution that the tourist demand shows . Asturias had in 2007 a total of 2.751 hotel establishments and it had 72.495 accommmodation places, of which 27.949 correspond to hotels, 12.162 to lodgings of rural tourism, 24.568 to campings and 7.816 to other types of lodgings.

The rural tourism with 1.356 establishments in 2006 respects the environment above all. It offers housings and small hotels with charm of excellent quality that combine the traditional architecture with the maximum comforts and the best service.
